You know the rather special Volvo XC90? Well there’s a BMW 5-Series rivaling sedan arriving soon based on the same SPA (Scalable Product Architecture) modular platform – the Volvo S90; and Volvo SA has just released pricing on the halo sedan.
Expected to arrive at the end of 2016, we’ll see the Volvo S90 D5 (173kW and 480Nm turbo-diesel) and T6 (235kW and 400Nm twincharged petrol) models first – both available with AWD and in either Momentum or Inscription guise. The D4 (140kW and 400Nm turbo-diesel) and T5 (187kW and 350Nm turbo petrol) FWD models will arrive, along with the option of the R-Design trim level, in 2017. All models, regardless of their driven wheels, will feature Volvo’s Geartronic 8-speed automatic gearbox.
Pricing starts off competitively at R675 200 for the Volvo S90 T5 Momentum, with the top of the line Volvo S90 T6 AWD R-Design setting you back R857 400. It might seem a touch pricey, but you can bet they’ll be loaded with kit the German alternatives would charge a hefty extra fee for.
