Mitsubishi is officially broken.  Once the poster child of many a JDM enthusiast between the GTO (or 3000GT), Lancer Evolution, and Eclipse, there was a performance orientated vehicle for just about everyone.  Now the Evo is dead, and Mitsubishi have just announced the revival of the Eclipse nameplate… as a crossover SUV.  Yip, the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross!

When will we see the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross?  It’ll debut at the 87th Geneva International Motor Show from March 7th and Mitsubishi claim that the Eclipse Cross will marry “stylish coupe lines with the freedom of movement the SUV genre gives”.  They go on to say “the Eclipse Cross’s beautiful, dynamic form serves to bring about the same sense of excitement and inspiration as the diamond ring seen immediately before and after a total solar eclipse does.”

Basically, with the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross, Mitsubishi has sold out.  They’ve gone and given up the last hope any petrolhead had of the brand ever representing something special again – all in the name of yet another crossover.
We breathe a collective sigh of despair – RIP Mitsubishi, we’ll remember you for the way you were.
