Mercedes-Benz has a new flagship model! Forget the S63 AMG, even the S63 AMG Coupe; and the S65? Nah that’s child’s play – this is the S65 AMG Coupe in all its 463kW, 1000Nm, 6.0-litre biturbo V12 glory. If the numbers alone don’t impress you, the looks should.
Mercedes’ most beautiful coupe now has an extra shot of anger, in all areas. The 6.0-litre biturbo V12 dishes out a generous 463kW and 1000Nm, driving the rear wheels through a 7G-Tronic AMG Speedshift transmission. Mercedes-Benz say this will catapult the luxury coupe from standstill to 100km/h in 4.1 seconds, before it reaches an electronically limited top speed of 250km/h.
But besides a cracking 0-100km/h time, 1000Nm on tap from 2300-4300rpm, a V12 scream and plenty V12 badging to go around, the S65 AMG Coupe also features unique multi-spoke forged wheels measuring 255/40 R20 front, and 285/35 R20 rear, as well as the twin-blade radiator grille, 3D front-splitter, and a splashing of AMG badges.
Technological highlights of the S65 AMG Coupe include a weight-saving lithium-Ion battery, AMG sports suspension with curve tilting function and Magic Body Control, speed sensitive variable ratio steering, optional carbon ceramic brakes, AMG sports seats, new 3-spoke sports steering wheel, and an AMG instrument cluster – with a speedometer reading up to 360km/h.
Naturally the options list will be long and expensive, but if you’re able to afford what is possibly one of the most beautiful looking cars of our era, equipped with a ferocious 6.0-litre V12, then the options should be mere change rolling around in your couch.
