Last year Mercedes-Benz released the new S Class, and at the Frankfurt Motor Show they previewed the S Class Coupe concept. Good news for us is that the Coupe has now been revealed and it looks as stunning as the concept did, if not better.
The S Class Coupe replaces the CL Class, which replaced the previous S Coupe models. The Coupe takes the elongated proportions of the S Class and fuses them with sporty coupe lines and proportions to produce one of the most stunning vehicles the German brand has brought us.
The S Class Coupe is home to a host of new technologies, including an advanced version of Mercedes-Benz’ Magic Body Control system, which now leans into corners to minimise lateral G-force levels on the occupants and increases handling ability. The S Class Coupe also comes equipped with Pre-Safe brake with pedestrian detection, Distronic Plus, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Adaptive High Beam Assist, and Night View Assist Plus.
The S Class Coupe epitomises the idea of having too much money. It’s a coupe version of a luxury sedan meant to be chauffeured rather than driven, and yet it pulls off the rich appeal perfectly, especially with the option of embedding 47 Swarovski crystals in each headlight cluster which adds visual flare to the LED daytime running lamps and indicators.
The S Class Coupe is still a high-powered Mercedes-Benz, despite the luxurious offering, and as such retains sporty highlights such as the exhaust system with variable flaps for a deeper, sportier sound from the engine. The engine itself is currently only one derivative, a 4663cc biturbo V8 dubbed as the S500 Coupe, producing 335kW and 700Nm.
So, if you have money, and style, and like driving yourself in your super-limo, get an S Class Coupe, it’s guaranteed to be close on perfection.
