You know the Peugeot 2008? Yes, it’s the crossover SUV based on the fantastic little 208 hatchback. Well Peugeot has given it teeth, big, voracious fangs, and it’s all with the intent of taking on the Dakar Rally. This is the 2008 DKR.
Peugeot, Red Bull and Total have come together for the 2015 Dakar, producing what must be the angriest Peugeot we’ve seen since Sébastien Loeb’s 208 T16 which shattered the Pike’s Peak hill climb record last year. Matching the beastly looks of the 2008 DKR is a strong mechanical setup under the skin, which feature’s a new 2-wheel drive transmission, which enabled the fitment of larger wheels, fitted with 37-inch Michelin rubber.
Other than that, Peugeot have been rather tight-lipped about what will power the 2008 DKR, but with its small dimensions, light weight, and with the Pike’s Peak 208 T16’s 650kW engine in the arsenal, the 2008 DKR is sure to live up to its looks.
